Lindsey Vonn comes home,

Happy to finally be home, Lindsey Vonn said in a social media post on Sunday that "a hard and painful journey" is ahead as the American skier recovers from a devastating crash last month in the women's downhill at the Milan Cortina Olympics.

Vonn, 41, has undergone five surgeries since suffering a complex left tibia fracture after clipping a gate and sailing off course 13 seconds into the Feb. 8 run. She said later that the damage was so great that she might have had her leg amputated if not for Team USA's orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Tom Hackett, quickly treating the resulting compartment syndrome from the crash by performing a fasciotomy.

With compartment syndrome, the excessive pressure building up inside a muscle from bleeding or swelling restricts blood flow and can lead to permanent injury if not treated quickly. Hospitalization for four surgeries followed for nearly two weeks in Italy and then a fifth surgery and recovery in the United States before she could travel home on Sunday.

"Home sweet home. Feels good to sleep in my own bed," Vonn shared on Instagram. "I'm focused now on therapy and getting healthy. It's going to be a hard and painful journey but I am putting all of my energy into it, like I always do."

Vonn noted emotional pain for a different reason, the death of her dog Leo, a shelter dog that she adopted in 2014. She wrote earlier this month on Instagram that Leo was diagnosed recently with lung cancer after surviving lymphoma a year and a half ago.

"The day I crashed, so did Leo," Vonn had written, giving Feb. 9 as the day he died.

On Sunday, Vonn wrote, "wheeling through the front door without Leo greeting me like always was a very hard reality. A reality I had to face. Along with many other hard realities that lay in front of me as I move forward...."

She informed followers that she is "going to take some time for myself" and will provide updates when she can, then thanked them for their love and support.

Coming out of retirement with a partially rebuilt right knee, Vonn was considered a medal contender at the Olympics before her final World Cup race a week before. In that downhill, she tore her left ACL, though she said she still could ski in the Games.

Vonn was in search of her second gold medal in the downhill, having won in 2010 in Vancouver. She also has two bronze medals. She has 84 World Cup victories, including two this season.

Chad Baker-Mazara out at USC in final week of season as Trojans try to snap losing skid, make NCAA tournament push

Chad Baker-Mazara's time with USC is over.

The Trojans announced Sunday afternoon that Baker-Mazara was no longer with the program, marking a stunning development for the team as it enters the final stretch of the regular season and the Big Ten tournament.

According toThe Los Angeles Times' Ryan Kartje, there wasn't one specific incident but "an accumulation of issues" that led to his dismissal. Further specifics on his departure are not yet known.

Baker-Mazara, 26, transferred into USC this season. The former Auburn star has averaged 18.5 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game this season with the Trojans, all of which have been career highs. He's USC's leading scorer and was the Maui Invitational MVP in November.

Baker-Mazara played just 19 minutes in the team's 82-67 loss to No. 12 Nebraska on Saturday. He went down with an apparent leg injury early in the second half after blocking a shot and did not return.

Can USC make the NCAA tournament without Baker-Mazara?

Baker-Mazara's departure is coming at an awful time for the Trojans and head coach Eric Musselman.

USC has just two games left in the regular season, first at Washington on Wednesday and then at home against UCLA on Saturday. Both of those are games the Trojans will have to win if they want any shot at making it into the NCAA tournament.

Saturday's loss to Nebraska marked the Trojans' fifth straight. They've not beaten a ranked opponent all season and sit at just 18-11. They have significant work to do in order to make it to the tournament, a place the program hasn't been since 2023.

But it isn't out of the question. If the Trojans can end the regular season on a two-game win streak and then make a decent run in the Big Ten tournament in Chicago, an at-large bid certainly isn't out of the question.

But now, without Baker-Mazara around, pulling off that feat is going to be much more difficult for the Trojans.

'One Battle After Another,' 'Sinners' face off at Actor Awards in final pre-Oscars showdown

With two weeks to go until theAcademy Awards, the32nd Actor Awardson Sunday will be the final pre-Oscars showdown for"One Battle After Another"and"Sinners."

Associated Press

Formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the newly renamed Actor Awards are one of the most closely watched precursors. Actors make up the largest slice of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and their choices at the Actor Awards often align.

The ceremony, presented by the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, will be streamed live onNetflixbeginning at 8 p.m. EST. Kristen Bellis hosting.

Paul Thomas Anderson's "One Battle After Another" comes in the heavy favorite, having won at the Golden Globes, the BAFTAs and atSaturday's Producers Guild Awards. The film comes inwith a record seven nominationsand is seen as the most likely winner of the night's top award, best ensemble.

Thefour other nomineesfor best ensemble are: "Sinners," "Hamnet," "Marty Supreme" and "Frankenstein." If Ryan Coogler's "Sinners" upsets "One Battle After Another" on Sunday night, it would add a late dose of unpredictability toOscars.

But many of the categories already feel up for grabs.

Timothée Chalamet, who last year won best male actor from the actors guild for "A Complete Unknown," had been seen as the favorite for his performance in "Marty Supreme." But the surprise winner atthe BAFTAs,Robert Aramayo, showed how hard to pin down the category is. The other nominees are: Michael B. Jordan ("Sinners"), Leonardo DiCaprio ("One Battle After Another"), Ethan Hawke ("Blue Moon") and Jesse Plemons ("Bugonia").

If Chalamet wins, he'd be the first to win the award in back to back years.

Jessie Buckley is the favorite in the best female actor category. The other nominees are: Chase Infiniti ("One Battle After Another"), Rose Byrne ("If I Had Legs I'd Kick You"), Kate Hudson ("Song Sung Blue") and Emma Stone ("Bugonia").

The supporting awards are especially hard to predict. The best supporting female actor nominees are: Teyana Taylor ("One Battle After Another"), Wunmi Mosaku ("Sinners"), Ariana Grande ("Wicked: For Good"), Amy Madigan ("Weapons") and Odessa A'zion ("Marty Supreme"). The male nominees are: Sean Penn ("One Battle After Another"), Benicio Del Toro ("One Battle After Another"), Miles Caton ("Sinners"), Jacob Elordi ("Frankenstein") and Paul Mescal ("Hamnet").

Harrison Ford will receive the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, which will be presented to him by Woody Harrelson.

Golden Knights' Mark Stone leaves game at Penguins with an undisclosed injury

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Vegas Golden Knights captainMark Stoneleft his team's game at the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday because of an undisclosed injury.

Associated Press

Penguins defenseman Kris Letang gave Stone aseemingly harmless shoveto the left arm with his stick in the neutral zone late in the first period, though it may have caught him in the gap between his elbow and shoulder pads. Stone grimaced in pain, went down to one knee and skated off.

Coach Bruce Cassidy said aftera 5-0 losshe assumes Stone will fly with the Golden Knights to Buffalo and figures to have a better update Monday.

"He was getting looked at," Cassidy said. "Upper body is all I was told, and we'll see where it lands."

The 33-year-old winger has a history of injuries sidelining him throughout his NHL career over the past decade-plus, includinga wrist injuryin the fall. He has never played all 82 games in a season since becoming a full-time player in the league with Ottawa in 2014-15.

Cassidy did not want to use Stone's departure as an excuse for getting shut out by Pittsburgh.

"Mark's had some injuries before, so guys are concerned for him — rightfully so," Cassidy said. "I think that would be the biggest effect: Is he OK, or did he reinjure something he's had in the past? Everybody's kind of worried about that."

Stone is Vegas' second-leading scorer with 60 points in 43 games. He just helpedCanada reach the finalat the Olympics beforelosing to the U.S.in overtime.

King CharlesvisitedSandringham Estateover the weekend, but he did not see his brother, the formerPrince Andrew.

PEOPLE understands that the monarch, 77, was at the royal residence in Norfolk — where his younger brother Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, 66, is currently living — on Saturday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, March 1, but the pair did not cross paths.

The King did not see the former Duke of York, nor did he have any plans to, PEOPLE understands.

The King's appearance at the royal residence comes less than two weeks after Andrew wasarrestedon the Norfolk property.

The monarch's younger brother wasarrested on Feb. 19— his 66th birthday — on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was arrested at the home where he is currently staying on the Sandringham Estate.

Authorities are investigating the former Prince Andrew in connection with an allegation that he shared confidential information with the late billionaire and convicted sex offenderJeffrey Epsteinwhile acting as a trade envoy for the United Kingdom.

Police arrested Andrew days after theBBCreported that authorities wereinvestigating a claim that Andrew shared confidential documents with Epsteinwhen he was in the position, which he assumed after retiring from the Royal Navy, from 2001 to 2011. The arrest is not in any way related to allegations of sexual misconduct, and Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein.

On the day of his brother's arrest, the Kingreleased a statement vowing that the palace would cooperate with policein the investigation.

PEOPLE understands thatBuckingham Palace was not informedof the arrest before it happened.

Andrew's relationship with Epsteinset his step back from public life in motion in November 2019, but has returned to the spotlight lately with the release of the Epstein files — in which he and his ex-wifeSarah Fergusonappearmultiple times.

The former Duke of York has also faced scrutiny over his alleged ties toVirginia Giuffre, an outspoken Epstein victim who alleged that she was made to have sex with Andrew when she was just 17 years old. Andrew has consistently denied Giuffre's allegations. Giuffredied by suicideat age 41 in 2025.

Andrew was then stripped ofhis royal titles days laterby King Charles.

Epstein died by suicide in 2019 at age 66 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges.
